Allocade executives have extensive experience both in the healthcare industry and leading software technology companies. Our technology team includes the former director and leading computer scientist with the Artificial Intelligence Application Group at NASA Ames Research Center.
Gary E. Wright
President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Gary Wright joined Allocade in January 2011 as president and chief executive officer, bringing with him 36 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Before joining Allocade, Gary served as president and chief executive officer for VasoNova, Inc., a healthcare start-up that created the first Doppler/ECG guidance system for PICC catheter and CVC placement, which recently sold to Teleflex Incorporated. Prior to this, Gary was executive vice president of Omnicell, Inc. During his tenure as vice president of sales, the company won the Deloitte Touche Fast 50™ award for its explosive revenue growth five years in a row. Before joining Omnicell, Gary served as vice president and general manager for PCS Health Systems, and prior to this he was an executive with Caremark. Gary also held senior sales positions at leading healthcare companies including Medtronic and American Hospital Supply. He began his career while in college working as an ambulance technician, followed by one year as a registered nurse in the medical intensive care unit at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. Gary holds a Bachelor of Science from Northern Illinois University and he completed the MedPrep Program at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Gary also completed several executive education programs through the University of Virginia, U.C. Berkeley, USC, MIT, Berlitz and Stanford University.
Don Rosenthal
Founder and Chief Technical Officer (CTO)
Don Rosenthal, who founded Allocade in 2004, is the company's CTO. He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in leading-edge software development specializing in advanced planning and scheduling systems. Don was part of the original team that developed the scheduling system for the Hubble Space Telescope – a system that was shown to increase the orbiting facility's throughput by nearly 50 percent. He later created and ran the artificial intelligence application group at NASA Ames Research Center, where he worked on architectures for an autonomous Mars Rover, intelligent command systems for the Pioneer spacecraft and the first expert system to fly on a manned space mission. Don founded Interval Logic Corporation in 1995 to provide planning and scheduling tools for semiconductor manufacturers, including a system to schedule and reschedule detailed fab operations in real-time in response to changes on the shop floor. Don holds both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Computer Science from Harvard University.
Tommy Hawkins
Vice President of Engineering
Tommy Hawkins joined Allocade as vice president of engineering in November 2010. He is a software executive with a proven background in building and growing software development organizations. Tommy has significant experience in the development of enterprise class, mission-critical applications and application development products used by today's Fortune 1000 companies. Before joining Allocade, Tommy served as the vice president of engineering at PS'Soft, a maker of IT asset and service management software. Prior to joining PS'Soft, he served as vice president of partner engineering at Above All Software, a web-service tools vendor; vice president of engineering at MarketFirst Software, a maker of marketing automation software, and Visigenic Software, a leader in applications server and ODBC technologies. Before this, he served as executive director of Informix Software, a leading database provider. Tommy also worked as an independent consultant and advisor to numerous Silicon Valley technology and venture investment firms. Tommy holds a Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Science in Medical Information Science from the University of California at San Francisco.
Jean M. Nelson
Vice President of Marketing
Jean Nelson joined Allocade in May 2011 as vice president of marketing, bringing with her over 25 years of extensive marketing experience in the healthcare industry. Jean is an accomplished executive with substantial experience developing marketing strategies and implementing sales support tactics for paradigm-shifting medical technologies. She has worked and consulted with several medical technology companies, from early-stage commercialization through launch and revenue generation. As the vice president of marketing at Aspect Medical Systems, a venture-backed medical device company with a successful IPO in 2000, Jean worked with the founding team to create a new market for the company's BIS technology, a direct measure of the level of consciousness during anesthesia and sedation. She directed the marketing programs that contributed to the growth in annual corporate revenue from zero to over $35 Million in less than five years. Jean also held positions in marketing and business development with Nellcor, and served as a consultant for Bain & Company, Inc. in their hospital consulting practice. Jean holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering from Lehigh University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Gary W. Robinson
Senior Vice President of Sales
Gary Robinson, who brings more than 35 years of sales and marketing experience in the healthcare industry, joined Allocade as senior vice president of sales in April 2011. Before joining Allocade, he was vice president of international sales for Wolters Kluwer Health, where he grew sales internationally through distributors and a direct sales force for cardiology, GI, surgical procedure documentation and CPOE order sets software. Gary signed the single largest international contract with the State of New South Wales, Australia, to install software in 86 hospitals. Prior to this, he was the vice president of sales for VasoNova, Inc., where he established a sales network to generate sales for a start-up vascular catheter guidance system. Before joining VasoNova, Gary was vice president of corporate sales and international for Omnicell, where he established their national accounts program and built up the international distributor network from five to 25 and increased sales by 200 percent over five years. Gary has also held senior executive sales positions with McKesson, Caremark, Becton Dickinson and American Hospital Supply. Gary earned both a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a Masters in Business Administration from San Diego State University.
